My last blog was about them and if you haven't checked them out yet then I strongly suggest that you do so.

They are going back on tour in just a couple weeks stopping all across the United States, if you can i recommend again that you should try to make it to a show. Most shows are General Admission and are only about $15, can't beat that. They continue to post new tour dates, keep checking www.honorsocietymusic.com for all tour dates and information. They actually just posted new dates this past weekend that hasnt even gone on sale to the public yet.

Head over to their myspace to hear their brand new album, I assure you won't be disappointed.

Honor Society

Honor Society is this great new band out there. They spent the summer touring with the Jonas Brothers, while doing their own tour as well called the Full Moon Crazy tour, doing shows before or after the JB concert.

Unfortunatly, i was unable to see them this summer while they were on tour with Jonas, but will hopefully be seeing them in Hershey on New Years Eve and still am holding out there will be some New England dates during their new tour that starts next month called Autumn Tour. Their first album,Fashionably Late, drops on September 15th, there is still time to pre-order the album. If any of you went and saw the movie Bandslam you will recognize HS's song "Where Are You Know" that played during the credits. You can head over their myspace to check out their first single "Over You" and dates for their upcoming tour.

I hope you all check out their music, it is really good and if you can get tickets to one of their shows. They are a bunch of down to earth guys that love their fans to death and enjoy hanging out with them before and after shows.

12 Year Anniversary

Today marks the 12 year anniversary of the untimely death of Princess Diana.

<img style="display:block; My mind is one of endless imagination. some of the things i have thought have even surprised myself. but im going to use this space as a way to wrote out the realistic options and to write all about them to hopefully get some clarity on what it is i want to do.

Option 1:

coming back home to pennsylvania. this always me to save much of money while having little expenses to pay for. however, do i want to spend another summer living with my parents, while having hardly any social life once again?

Option 2:

getting a job as camp counselor at a summer camp for sick in connecticut. this is probably my most favorite option although it kind of conflicts with that of option three which will be discussed under that heading. with this job i'll be working from the beginning of june till nearly the end of august. i'd make roughly $3000 for the summer which is rather good since housing is covered, you are fed three meals a day, and you get to be a bright spot in these sick kids life. this is something i've always wanted to do and is something i want to do for the rest of my life, however, that is another whole story in itself. This option also poses some complications for option 3 which will be covered below.

Option 3:

Taking part of the study abroad program to South Africa through my school. The program is roughly three weeks long and i will be getting credit for three courses. However, I will need to buy my own plane ticket to and fromo SA along with most likely needing to get a loan to cover the tuition cost. But the credits is very tempting because i had to take two trimesters off last year due to some problems and this would help me with getting back on track for graduating May '11. The program also deals with working with some of the orphans there in South Africa, which i'm guessing will be in the town of Cape Town. Once there we spend two weeks working with the kids, taking over some sports equipment and teaching them some things about sports. I believe the third week is spent doing some site seeing around the country. I'm not exactly positive on the details of the trip, this summer ('09) was the first year the program has been run. I did have a friend that went on the trip & she said it was defiantly worth it. Also, the World Cup will be going on as we are there. Nothing like hot, international soccer guys walking around the city. Which also hightens the possiblity of a Prince Harry siting since he is such a big soccer fan, that is if he isnt bogged down with military obligations. This choice though conflicts with that of option 2. But there is some what of a solution to this problem. This camp also takes on volunteers for a session. Being a volunteer you dont make any money doing the job and you are required to work one session, each session is a week long. Sounds like the perfect solution. But how am i to make any money? What job in their right mind will hire a college student for the summer who will need to be taking essentially a month off? I'm not really sure, but if there is one out there shoot me there information. With getting a job that would allow this would make it possible to do the three things i want to do most in life to be done in one summer alone.

So there are the three options i have thought of & all three are ones that i despirately want to do, now it's just trying to figure out a way to do so.

I realize i dont have an area to post comments, i tried to fix this problem but nothing seemed to work and i really love this layout too much to get rid of it. I also tried to add a cbox to the side, this also seemed to not work very well. So if you really want to let me know something send me an at reply on twitter to @xstephanieee or send an email to aries321grl@gmail.com

love. hope. trust. believe.

Craziness, This Is So Me

Name: Stephanie
Date: 8/13/2009
Colorgenics Number: 16234507

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You don't need anxiety and problems. All you really seek is a conflict free environment which can offer peace and mental security. You don't like the idea of being alone and, whatever the reason, at this time of your life you feel as if you are being 'left out'. What you really need is perhaps some 'tender loving care'.

You are a leader and possibly at this tine in a position of authority, but you are experiencing problems. You are not quite sure how to handle the present situation.

You honestly believe that your hopes and ideas are realistic, but there seems to be no one around to give you the necessary reassurance and encouragement. You are egocentric. You believe that you are always 'right' - well maybe you are but you have a short fuse and are likely to take offence for the slightest reason.

You are being unduly influenced by the situation that is all around you. You do not like the feeling of loneliness and whatever it is that seems to separate you from others. You know that life can be wonderful and you are anxious to experience life in all its aspects, to live it to the full. You therefore resent any restriction or limitations that are being imposed on you and you insist on going it alone.

You wish to be left in peace... no more conflict and no more differences of opinion. In fact you just don't want to be involved in arguments of any shape or form. All you want is for 'them' to get on with it - and to leave you alone.

******

I basically just googled 'Colorgenics Number', clicked on the first link it gave me and this is what came up. And now tonight as i sit in a darkened room with only the sound of my fingers on the keys and the hum of the air conditioner as my only companion i find myself asking the same question i've asked for a couple weeks now and i seem no closer to an answer than the first time i asked it.

Everyone that knows me knows that i love the Jonas Brothers, or at least everyone that knows me should know this. Anyways, they are playing in Philly tonight and tomorrow. When tickets first went on sale i had absolutely no money, typical story of a college student and what little money i did have went towards the week long trip i took to Greece with my practicum group.

So all week i've been looking on line for decent tickets for a decent price to tomorrow, fridays, show. It being Friday night i figured it'd be a better day to go then Thursday. I was actually able to find some pretty decent tickets that were being sold for less than face value. Unfortunatley, i have no one to go with or any way to get there.

So this goes back to my original thought, everything happens for a reason. Me + Jonas Brothers concert = not meant to be

This begs the question, why is the universe so against me going to the concert? I hope it means only greater things are to come in my life.

So my question to all you out there:

Do you believe everything happens for a reason?
If yes, why?

Questions

as i lay here trying to sleep i find many questions running through
my mind. And i've found myself questioning myself a lot about religion and things that go along those lines as of late. I'm not entirely sure why or how these questions have come about. We've never really been a religious family. I use to go to church when i was younger but i can't tell you the last time i stepped foot in one.
I guess you could say im on this path of trying to find myself and where i exactly fit into this world. And with this i have found myself questioning where God fits into all of this and its knew to me. I've always believed that everything happens for a reason and that our lives have already been planned out for us. But i feel as almost like there's this whole other world out those that i have yet to discover. Trying to put this thoughts and feelings have just seemed to confuse me more and that im not getting what im trying to say out clearly enough and im sure this makes no sense to anyone but myself but im okay with that, for now at least.
Goodnight.

Game 3 NBA Finals Lakers vs. Magic

I'll blog about the game later but for now yall should follow me on twitter for all my thoughts going on as the game is played.

We need to stop Kobe Bryant.

News Flash
Stan VanGundy JJ's defense is much better then you think & did one hell of a job on Kobe Sunday night. Dwight Howard didn't have one dunk in the game?!? Craziness. They defiantly had an off night shooting. When you shoot 29% collectively as a team you know something isn't right. But on a good note in my book was that JJ Redick got to play 8 minutes in the 4th quarter. I feel bad for him. 11th pick out of the draft, hadn't had much playing time going into this series & it was so bad that he asked to be traded last season, that obviouslt didnt happen. And as im typing this right now, he is getting ready to come into the game right now =] I love him. This season he saw his playing time increase a bit this season and then Courtney Lee got hurt the end of the Philly series so JJ actually started every game of the Boston series. But Lee came back and he saw action in only one game during the Cleveland series. I got to hand it to him for staying positive.

Here's to the Magic pulling out a win in LA, although we've got three players with 2 fouls each, so they'll have to stop that if they want to stay in this game.

Yassou

Wow, i apologize for how long it's been since i've last updated. I have since completed my trimester of practicum. We did some really awesome community service that taught me so much about Rhode Island. And after that we took our FAM trip to GREECE!!!

It was such an amazing experience and i am a constant loss of words to describe the trip. Being in a place with so much history and just thinking about all the people that have walked the same paths you do while you are there just leave me speechless and almost feeling overwhelmed. It was four years now that i sat in a classroom learning about the Greek Gods and Goddess and here i am walking the very land of their existance. They was alot that happened and i almost feel like i did get everything out of it that i could. I let some situations cloud the experienc and bring me down a bit. But i still had a fantastic time and it defiantly something i will never forget.

And this brings me to the Air France flight that went down over the Atlantic Ocean early this week. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims families. The scary part is that my practicum group and I were just on that same type of airplane just two weeks ago. We were fortunate to have good weather during all of our flights.

I am back home now for the summer, not like it has been very fun so far. Unpacking is one of the things that i absolutely hate doing, but it must be done but i'm still in the process of doing so. My dad has been on my ass since i got back about getting a job. I've handed in 4 applications thus far, what more does he want me to do?

I'm actually really looking forward to going back to school in September. i miss Providence already but im more excited about where im living next year. The university ran out of housing for the 09-10 school year so they have leased these brand new apartments that are just getting finished now. They are really condos, luxury condos, so im really thankful to be living in them. Granted i am paying an arm and a leg to be staying there i dont care. i get my own room finally, growing up as an only child, sharing a room with someone the last two years has been hard on me. I also dont have to pay for laundry anymore, another perk of them being condos, each unit has its own washer & dryer. There are a total of three of us in the apartment, two girls in one bedroom and then me in the other. which also means i get my own bathroom since there are two in the unit. each bathroom has grantite counter tops, porcelin sinks, and large showers. the kitchen comes with stainless steel appliances and grantite countertops again; i also get a walk-in closet. i couldnt be more excited to be living on campus.

I hope you are all doing well and I will hopefully be updating this alittle bit more regularly.

you can't measure success by the number of flushes made

On Friday I took a mini FAM (familiarization) trip with the practicum group.
I defiantly didn't want to get out of bed, it was rainy and depressing out and last thing i wanted to do was get up early, put on my uniform and sit on the bus for an hour or so. But the day turned out quite nicely.

We went to the Hyatt Regency. If i had some extra cash, in the hundreds, to just spend, this is defiantly place i would love to stay. The $34 million worth of renovations did the place wonders. At this time I'm procrastinating writing my paper on the property tour..so boring.

After lunch we got to take a tour of The Breakers, a 'summer cottage' for the Vanderbuilts, built in the late 1800's. Walking around this huge mansion, just made me wish I had lived in that time period. We were unfortunatly unable to take pictures once we walked in the front door. It was kind of saddening, the place is sooo nice you just want to snap a picture of everything you see. Especially the water fountain that is under the stairs. Because really, a fountain inside a house? Craziness. I left a comment on Alissa's blog about the same trip wondering if it would be frowned upon if we just decided to camp out at the place for a couple days. It's the only logical way to really get a feel of the place, right? Anyways, enough of my ramblings for now. Below are some pictures taken from the outside of the mansion, if you click on them it will give you the actual size of the picture.

Enjoy =]

procrastination at its best

I really wished they handed out grades for the best procrastinator because i'd defiantly ace it. I have had this assignment sheet for like 4 weeks now and the paper is due tomorrow, yet i just started it tonight. Yeah defiantly not the best idea. Good thing i do my best work under pressure.

I've been sitting in the schools library for 45 minutes now and have two paragraphs written. I rock, rock on. My goal was to have it done by 7, its only a 2-3 page paper and all i have to basically do is copy and paste stuff from a website, and i still only have two paragraphs written, ahaha.

If only there was a way to turn the internet off then i'd be all set. although i'm sure i'd still find ways to procrastinate.

I rediscovered public libraries. And i must say they are pretty amazing, minus the fact that the homeless population of providence seems to like to hang out there. Where else can they look at porn on the internet for free? Surely not from their shopping carts. I'm sorry if that offends anyone. But that's a whole 'nother issue for another entry.

Sorry about the lack of updates. Practicum has been kicking my ass lately. I just changed rotations from the airport to this place call Collette Vacations, they basically put together different tours for people. Anyways I'm suppose to be in the mail room, but they decided now would be the perfect time to move the mail room downstairs. So i have the wonderful task of folding letters, putting them into envelopes, and putting labels on the envelopes. Me and the Grad Assistant did about 700 the last two days and i have another 400 i have to do on Monday. FML.

I have managed to procrastinate for an extra ten minutes so thank you blogspot for funding my procrastination skills and time and thanks to whoever actually reads this!!

there are no words for this

this is probably the funniest thing i have seen in awhile,
they popped out of this room where me and my friends were standing,
the scariest shit ever not to mention how creepy/perveted they are.

Greece here i come!!

I am finally back in Providence and finally back at Johnson & Wales University. I lucky am not taking classes this tri, instead i am doing my practicum, which is basically like an internship. We do three rotations at locations that are travel related; I am doing rotations at the Providence airport (we have to do two different shifts, 7am-1pm or 3pm-9pm; i have to do the 7am shift the day of and after my birthday, no going out for this birthday girl =[ ), i also have a rotation at collette vacations, and the state house. And the best part of the whole thing is we get to take a familiarization trip to somewhere abroad and our class is going to Greece!!! I'm so friggin excited!! it's going to be so much fun.

I got all moved into my dorm room last weekend and it turns out that my roommate actually lives like 30 mins from me and knows the area of where i use to live, which is pretty cool since noone has ever heard of it unless they are from there. And then i have two other suite mates, to be honest i don't remember their names and i hardly talk to them, but thats okay. With my schedule I'm going to be fairly busy anyways so there really won't be time for fraternizing with people.

So far things are going good but we are only a week into the tri so things could change. I really need to find someone with a car so they can take me to the grocery store. Im lucky to be staying in a dorm that is made up of all suites and each suite contains a kitchen and bathroom, so we can cook our own food but i cant take advantage of it because i havent boughten any food yet and on the weekends the bus doesnt run as frequent down to 'main campus' and its more of a hassle to get down there to get something to eat, but i'll get over it at some point.

I don't have anything really planned for this weekend, i haven't decided if i want to go to my one friends house party she is having tomorrow night. If i don't do anything tomorrow i might go see the Jonas Brothers 3d movie again by myself, i really don't have the money to pay $15 for a ticket but i really want to see it again.

I'll stop boring you all now, hopefully i'll have more interesting things to talk about next week for i will be at the airport for the next couple of weeks and i'm sure i'll be running into quite interesting people and i'll keep praying that for some unknown reason, JB decides they want to visit New England and fly threw Providence instead of Boston.

Procrastination at it's best

After six months off from school, I am finally going back this weekend!
I'm a bit nervous and excited; I don't know who I'm rooming with, their three random girls who i don't know who they are. But i guess that's what i get for going back for the last trimester of the year and the fact that all my other friends already have roommates. But after all the problems i've had with the school and all my health problems i'm finally going back! I have defiantly missed Providence, after awhile living in a small town gets rather boring and monotonous.

But the best part of going back is the fact that i actually don't have any classes, I'm doing my practicum which is like internshiping with a 12 day trip abroad at the end. And i can't wait to find out where we are going! Winter tri went to Spain!! I'm hella jealous, i've always wanted to go to Spain. I hope we go to somewhere in Europe and not some where in South America. I have nothing against South America, it's just not somewhere I want to visit.

So instead of packing I'm updating this and listening to Honor Society, who needs to come out with a cd, these three songs just aren't cutting it anymore; i've become quite the pro at procrastination. I don't like having to pack up my life in just a few boxes. And it doesn't help that I'm one of those type of people that overpacks, as in packs practically everything because you believe you will use everything at least once. When in reality you won't touch three quarters of the stuff you do pack. And it's not like I have to pack a lot of clothes because for practicum we are required to wear these ugly ass uniforms; blue blazer with a blouse, blue pants, black dress shoes with our hair up. So for five days a week i will be in this so i only need clothes for weekends mostly and for our trip. And i don't know where we're going; is it going to warm or cold? rainy or dry? This wouldn't be a big deal except for the fact I'm not coming home at all during the tri.

I guess that's enough procrastination for now, i better get back to packing :(

Jonas Brothers: 3D Concert Experience

I went and saw the boys' 3D movie yesterday and ended up having to go by myself since none of my friends are fans of theirs. It wasn't that bad going by myself, there was a girl by herself sitting behind me. I ended up going to an early showing, 4:45, so it really wasn't that full thankfully. But i had 4 or 5 girls infront of me that screamed through probably the first 10 minutes of the movie & i couldn't hear most of the 'earthquake' scene, i was quite upset at this but what can you do?

Was I the only one who left the movie wanting me? I felt almost as though everything was rushed and a bit disappointed. I'm sad that it didn't live up to my expectations. I'm not quite sure what my expectations really were but i felt as though they weren't lived up to. I might be going later this week with a co-workers daughter, maybe i'll enjoy it more the second time and with going with someone else.

I hope all of you who went and saw it enjoyed it more than i did.

(Re)Discovering Music

I love rediscovering music.

Last week I came across Trapt's self-titled cd and it has been on repeat ever since. I forgot how much i loved it, the songs are upbeat with lyrics that aren't so upbeat, but i love it none the less. Check it out.

Something Corporate. I absolutly love these guys and am still upset over their breakup. Some of my favorite SoCo songs would have to be Straw Dog, i love the piano entry of it. Down, again another awesome piano entry into the song, it's actually the main ringtone on my phone. Me and the Moon, love this songs to bits don't know why. The Astronaut. Ruthless. and basically all their songs. You should check them out.

Jack's Mannequin. Andrew McMahon is the lead singer of them, he was also the lead singer of Something Corporate. Like SoCo, i love just about every Jack's song. Their new cd is amazing and had Hammer's and String's on repeat for almost two days, Check them out also.

Thanks to Mandy VanDuyne, i have discovered School Boy Humor. At first i thought they were just going to be another pop group, with corny music & lyrics. But i listened to them and was happily surprised to find that their sound wasn't over popish, it had more of a rock sound to it, with lyrics that are more than just mediocre. My favorite song would have to be What If, i also really enjoyed their cover of 'Realize'

A Rocket to the Moon. Ever since last year i had heard a lot about A Rocket to the Moon. I go to college in Providence, RI and one of the kids that travels with them, actually lived down the hall from me the first trimester last year. It wasn't until a couple months ago that i actually listened to some of their songs and instantly fell in love with them. They've covered some of Tswift's songs, i almost like their version of 'Forever and Always' better than hers. *Shhh, i didn't say that* I recommand listening to them, 'If You Only Knew' is probably my favorite song of theirs.

I just bought The Maines 'Can't Stop, Won't Stop' album, i havent listened to it enough to really put my opinion out there, but from what i have heard its really good and they will probably make it to my repeat album list.

I also just bought Forever the Sickest Kids cd and love what i've heard so far, but haven't listened to it enough yet to form an opinion. But i can bet it'll also land on that list of albums that go on repeat.

There's many more that i could go on and on about, but i'll spare you the pain of that. If you haven't listened to some of these bands, i highly recommand that you do so.

this could change your life

a friend of mine had posted the following note on her blog on myspace, she is not the original author of this note, but like me felt the truth in what the girl was writing, almost like she was knew what i was thinking and feeling. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Dear friends,

To be human is to fall from grace; to be divine is to crawl from where you land. We are imperfect; disfigured; uncouth when we choose to be: we are divine when we aspire.

There are so many reasons to hate the world. The reasons for bitterness can fill up a room while the reasons for love can only fit at the tip of a needle. Whether they are natural disasters, humanitarian crises, or family problems, this little speck of Earth sometimes feels as though it is in the cusp of hell and heaven.

Today the weather was perfect. The sun was shining, the wind was cool, and I did not go outside. Instead, my morning consisted of problems with which I had been dealing since I was conscious enough for memories, and I cried until my head hurt. It is ridiculous how uncontrollable your life can be when the weather is finally agreeable. But here I am again, a month (or a year) later, typing about my experiences and wondering if it makes sense to anyone but myself.

If there is anything I have ever learned from these seventeen years, it's that life is not worth blaming. Pitying, hating, or destroying yourself for a bit of control or a bit of venting is not worth the pain or the effort. Whatever happens to you, ultimately you are the one who chooses how to react. You can hate yourself, or you can change. You can spurn the world, or you can improve it. For those, I have made my choices, and here I am today, intact.

We are small and we are not mighty, but our will is extraordinary Fear pain; fear rejection; fear change--we cannot deny our most basic instincts. Yet, we must not forget that we are the product of our own devices, and although there are things we cannot control, we are not unable to continue. Time only stops for the dead.

So friends, thank you for being part of my reasons to rise above my present and have hope for the future and humanity. Thank you for your words, for your "normal," for keeping me moving forward when my feet begin to stand still. Others have suffered more than I; I have suffered more than others, but we suffer the same way. Even the smallest amounts of love given willingly and unconsciously can overcome the greatest of evils. I am strong, but you make me stronger.

We have entered a world embroiled in suspicion, cynicism, and parasitism in need of thought, understanding, and empathy.
But most of all, it needs more love letters.

Write one with your life.

Are You a Nice Girl?

I am.

This is my tribute to the nice girls. To the nice girls who are overlooked, who become friends and nothing more, who spend hours fixating upon their looks and their personalities and their actions because it must be they that are doing something wrong. This is for the girls who don't give it up on the first date, who don't want to play mind games, who provide a comforting hug and a supportive audience for a story they've heard a thousand times. This is for the girls who understand that they aren't perfect and that the guys they're interested in aren't either, for the girls who flirt and laugh and worry and obsess over the slightest glance, whisper, touch, because somehow they are able to keep alive that hope that maybe... maybe this time he'll have understood. This is an homage to the girls who laugh loud and often, who are comfortable in skirts and sweats and combat boots, who care more than they should for guys who don't deserve their attention. This is for those girls who have been in the trenches, who have watched other girls time and time again fake up and make up and f up the guys in their lives without saying a word. This is for the girls who have been there from the beginning and have heard the trite words of advice, from "there are plenty of fish in the sea," to "time heals all wounds." This is to honor those girls who know that guys are just as scared as they are, who know that they deserve better, who are seeking to find it.

This is for the girls who have never been in love, but know that it's an experience that they don't want to miss out on. For the girls who have sought a night with friends and been greeted by a night of catcalling, rude comments and explicit invitations that they'd rather not have experienced. This is for the girls who have spent their weekends sitting on the sidelines of a beer pong tournament or a case race, or playing Florence Nightingale for a vomiting guy friend or a comatose crush, who have received a drunk phone call just before dawn from someone who doesn't care enough to invite them over but is still willing to pass out in their bed. This is for the girls who have left sad song lyrics in their away messages, who have tried to make someone understand through a subliminally appealing profile, who have time and time again dropped their male friend hint after hint after hint only to watch him chase after the first blonde girl in a skirt. This is for the girls who have been told that they're too good or too smart or too pretty, who have been given compliments as a way of breaking off a relationship, who have ever been told they are only wanted as a friend.

This one's for the girls who you can take home to mom, but won't because it's easier to sleep with a whore than foster a relationship; this is for the girls who have been led on by words and kisses and touches, all of which were either only true for the moment, or never real to begin with. This is for the girls who have allowed a guy into their head and heart and bed, only to discover that he's just not ready, he's just not over her, he's just not looking to be tied down; this is for the girls who believe the excuses because it's easier to believe that it's not that they don't want you, it's that they don't want anyone. This is for the girls who have had their hearts broken and their hopes dashed by someone too cavalier to have cared in the first place; this is for the nights spent dissecting every word and syllable and inflection in his speech, for the nights when you've returned home alone, for the nights when you've seen from across the room him leaning a little too close, or standing a little too near, or talking a little too softly for the girl he's with to be a random hookup. This is for the girls who have endured party after party in his presence, finally having realized that it wasn't that he didn't want a relationship: it was that he didn't want you. I honor you for the night his dog died or his grandmother died or his little brother crashed his car and you held him, thinking that if you only comforted him just right, or said the right words, or rubbed his back in the right way then perhaps he'd realize what it was that he already had. This is for the night you realized that it would never happen, and the sunrise you saw the next morning after failing to sleep.

This is for the "I really like you, so let's still be friends" comment after you read more into a situation than he ever intended; this is for never realizing that when you choose friends, you seldom choose those which make you cry yourself to sleep. This is for the hugs you've received from your female friends, for the nights they've reassured you that you are beautiful and intelligent and amazing and loyal and truly worthy of a great guy; this is for the despair you all felt as you sat in the aftermath of your tears, knowing that that night the only companionship you'd have was with a pillow and your teddy bear. This is for the girls who have been used and abused, who have endured what he was giving because at least he was giving something; this is for the stupidity of the nights we've believed that something was better than nothing, though his something was nothing we'd have ever wanted. This is for the girls who have been satisified with too little and who have learned never to expect anything more: for the girls who don't think that they deserve more, because they've been conditioned for so long to accept the scraps thrown to them by guys.

This is what I don't understand. Men sit and question and whine that girls are only attracted to the mean guys, the guys who berate them and belittle them and don't appreciate them and don't want them; who use them for sex and think of little else than where their next conquest will be made. Men complain that they never meet nice girls, girls who are genuinely interested and compelling, who are intelligent and sweet and smart and beautiful; men despair that no good women want to share in their lives, that girls play mindgames, that girls love to keep them hanging. Yet, men, I ask you: were you to meet one of these genuinely interested, thrillingly compelling, interesting and intelligent and sweet and beautiful and smart girls, were you to give her your number and wait for her to call... and if you were to receive a call from her the next day and she, in her truthful, loyal, intelligent and straightforward nice girl fashion, were to tell you that she finds you intriguing and attractive and interesting and worth her time and perhaps material from which she could fashion a boyfriend, would you or would you not immediately call your friends to tell them of the "stalker chick" you'd met the night prior, who called you and wore her heart on her sleeve and told the truth? And would you, or would you not, refuse to make plans with her, speak with her, see her again, and once again return to the bar or club or party scene and search once more for this "nice girl" who you just cannot seem to find? Because therein lies the truth, guys: we nice girls are everywhere. But you're not looking for a nice girl. You're not looking for someone genuinely interested in your intermural basketball game, or your anatomy midterm grade, or that argument you keep having with your father; you're looking for a quick fix, a night when you can pretend to have a connection with another human being which is just as disposable as the condom you were using during it.

So don't say you're on the lookout for nice girls, guys, when you pass us up on every step you take. Sometimes we go undercover; sometimes we go in disguise: sometimes when that girl in the low cut shirt or the too tight miniskirt won't answer your catcalls, sometimes you're looking at a nice girl in whore's clothing - - we might say we like the attention, we might blush and giggle and turn back to our friends, but we're all thinking the same thing: "This isn't me. Tomorrow morning, I'll be wearing a teeshirt and flannel shorts, I'll have slept alone and I'll be making my hungover best friend breakfast. See through the disguise. See me." You never do. Why? Because you only see the exterior, you only see the slutty girl who welcomes those advances. You don't want the nice girl.. so don't say you're looking for a relationship: relationships take time and energy and intent, three things we're willing to extend - - but in return, we're looking for compassion and loyalty and trust, three things you never seem willing to express. Maybe nice guys finish last, but in the race they're running they're chasing after the whores and the sluts and the easy-targets... the nice girls are waiting at the finish line with water and towels and a congradulatory hug (and yes, if she's a nice girl and she likes you, the sweatiness probably won't matter), hoping against hope that maybe you'll realize that they're the ones that you want at the end of that silly race.

So maybe it won't last forever. Maybe some of those guys in that race will turn in their running shoes and make their way to the concession stand where we're waiting; however, until that happens, we still have each other, that silly race to watch, and all the chocolate we can eat (because what's a concession stand at a race without some chocolate?)

By Jessica Leigh Griffith

Candis from JS had posted this in a note awhile back
and couldn't agree more and felt the need to share it with all of ya'll.

Wake Forest/Duke game

i am so friggin proud of those boys. Duke had found itself in a bit of a slide as of late, winning only 1 out of their last 3 games. Last time they played Wake Forest they played at Wake Forest down in Winston-Salem and lost a heartbreaking game by losing in the last 2 seconds of the game.

But tonight the boys redeemed themselves by winning by a score of 101-91. And had two amazinggg performances from Gerald Henderson and Jon Scheyer, both of whom scored career high points, 35 and 30 respectively.

They actually looked like the Duke team we always expect them to be. They played really good defense and brought a high energy with them, that you can only find at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

There's only one more home game for the Devils, before Greg Paulus has to bid adeu to the place he has called home for the last four years. I am greatly saddened by this. TO me he represents the last link of JJ to Duke University. Greg was the starting point guard for most of JJ's senior year back in the 05-06 season.
So this is to you Duke, for playing an amazing game and I couldn't be more proud of you!
hmmmm...

What can i blog about today, my life is this neverending sequence of boringness while i wait to return to school in a couple weeks. Which i am ridiculously excited, i have no classes just practicum in those ugly ass uniforms while working my butt off at jobs where you don't get paid for but are required to do a lengthy project on. It's all worth it though to get to go on our FAM trip, and can i just say how jealous i am that this tri they are going to Spain. I've always wanted to go there but more importantly Barcelona, I've heard the architecture there is amazing and i would love to be able to see in first hand.

I haven't done a sports blog in about a week, those brothers Jonas have just been everwhere lately, not that i'm complaining though. Just when I felt like I was drifting away from them, they lure me back in. And it was nice to see them being themselves, I felt like we hadn't gotten that lately, especially from Joseph. Nicholas, where has that boy been hiding. He has some personality and i love that a lot of it came out this week. But he's going land me behind bars one of these days. And i have a hard time believing he's only 16 years old.

Okay back to sports.

I am a born and raised yankee fan, it's like i have yankee blood running through me and i'm very protective of the players and coaches. But i have become quite disappointed in some of them as of late.

First of Joe Torre. I absolutely adored him as the Yankees manager and was saddened to see him leave. But he has left me disappointed and let down with this new book of his that he wrote. But my opinions are solely based on media reports & their leaks of the book and i'm hoping that they have exaggerated what's actually written. I have yet to purchase and read the book, but when i do i'll get back to you and let you now my opinions on it.

Secondly, Mr. Alex "i never took steriods" Rodriguez. Then miraculously a report from SportsIllustrated surfaced about him testing positive for a banned substance in 2003. He held a press conference yesterday at the yankees training facility in tampa, fl. Can someone please explain to me how a professional athlete, who monitors everything that goes into his body, can inject himself with a drug that he has no idea what kind of effects it will have on his body twice a month for almost three years? Seriously? He played it off as being young, naive, and immature; not to mention this drug came from the dominican republice where his cousin was able to buy it over the counter, sketchy much? Ughhh, it's just annoying and i'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around it. Bottom line is I'm very disappointed in A-Rod and it will take awhile before I trust him and can except him as a yankee, which i'm still working on after the whole pullingout of his contract so he can get a better one. But that's another story that i don't really want to get into.

I'm watching the Orlando Magic game and my future hubby, JJ Redick has gotten in already and has two points. He had an amazing game yesterday, but I'll probably blog about all of that after the current game is over.

blindfolded musical chairs anyone?

Blindfolded musical chairs anyone? apologize, but i ended spending the day in bed sick.

Going into the game I was extremely nervous and anxious, we had been playing extrememly well up until the past week and a half or so and felt like we had a lot to prove. We started off rather slow, going down by 11 at some point, but you aren't Duke without going on a bit of a ran. And that's just what we did. We took the 11 point deficiet and turned it into a double digit lead at one point. We played amazing defense and our shooting guards had found their touch especially Scheyer and Singler who had been in a bit of a slump going into the game. Dicky V had said the two were out shooting around hours before they were do to be at the court, it defiantly showed. We went into half time with amazing energy and pumped up.

16 seconds into the second half could perhaps be called the turn around of the game. Hansborough, Singler and another Duke player scrambled for a loose ball and the played ended with Singler being called for a techinical foul for elbowing Tyler in the face. Whether he did it on perhaps or his elbow just went snapped back of slipping of the ball, they said it was almost 90 degrees on court level, is up to interpretation. The technical gave Singler I believe his four foul of the game, five fouls being the limit. The Blue Devils soon saw their lead diminish and found themselves on the losing end of the battle. To tell you the truth I didn't pay too much attention to the second half, I was disappointed our play. We went into the locker room at half time a well flated balloon and we walked back on the court seeming almost a bit deflated and it just kept going down, they weren't able to really bring it back to where it was before. I think we depend on the 3 pointer a little too much, but I guess that's what happens when you don't have a prominent player to play in the paint, you have to depend on your shooters. And in the second half we were lucky if anything was going in and you have to give Carolina credit, the defense that seemed to fall away in the first half came back swinging in the second half and seemed to be effective. Over all the Carolina ended up scoring over 100 points against the best defense in the ACC.

Watch out Carolina, on your senior night I think you will be seeing a different Duke team and we will leave Tyler in tears and they won't be happy ones either.

interesting...

I've always believed that our angels will give us signs to help us in our lives and with making decisions. my head. And it is my week's mission to learn the honor roll, even though i'm not going to any shows any time soon. But it can't hurt to be prepared.

It looks like everything is in order for me to go back to JWU next month. Luckily, I won't have any classes, just practicum. Which I'm wicked excited about, but mostly just to go on the 12 day or so FAM trip we'll be going on. It'll be my first time out of the US and I couldn't be more excited!!!

There's a big college basketball game tonight. The Tobacco Road rivalry, that's right. It's time for the first meeting of UNC/Duke of the season. I've never been more anxious and worried for a game like I am for this one. My Blue Devils have hit a bit of rough patch the last couple weeks and are looking to redem themselves against the always tough TarHeels, but i have faith in the Devils. Let's take a trip down memory lane. I love this video clip and no i don't believe Henderson did it on purpose and I'm still pissed he got suspended a couple games for it.
